Today I decided to keep a mental tally of the things I typically tend to take for granted, but more on an idiosyncratic level than say, “I’m alive and am surrounded by good people” because I’m pretty good at doing that
So here’s a list of my completely inconsequential blessings from today that I normally would only have taken stock of if they weren’t working out for me:
- My iPod isn’t on the fritz
- My headphones don’t have any shorts in the wire requiring me to sit or hold the plug a certain way in order for me to hear a full stereo spread
- I didn’t have to run for the bus
- My throat was not sore nor was my nose runny
- My skin was relatively clear
- There were no loud children on the train
- I didn’t step in anything unpleasant
- My DS battery had a good amount of life left in it despite me not charging it recently
- I didn’t have any difficulty locating the building I had to find
- There were no lines at the food court and the cajun spice seasoning wasn’t too clumpy to get out of the bottle
- At no point did I sustain a paper cut
- My phone didn’t die
- The amount of layers I chose prior to leaving the house were adequate and comfortable for the weather I wore them in
- A bird did not shit on me
I need to do this more often because it’s good for my stress levels
I need to do this sometime.
